Our Process

How It Works

What is a private fitting?+

A private fitting is exactly what it sounds like — your private appointment happens at your home, office, or preferred private setting. Whether it's your home, your office, or another location of your choosing, we bring everything needed to design and measure your garments on-site. No showroom visits, no waiting rooms, no distractions. Just you, your clothier, and a focused experience built entirely around your needs in the comfort of your own space.

How long will my order take?+

Our standard turnaround is 6–8 weeks from your private fitting, depending on fabric selection and the number of garments being made. Rush options are available — reach out to discuss your timeline.

Do you offer rush orders?+

Yes. Rush orders are available and can be completed faster than our standard timeline. All rush orders are subject to an order minimum to ensure priority placement in our production queue. Reach out with your timeline and we'll let you know what's achievable.

What if my weight changes after I'm measured?+

We always recommend getting fitted when your weight is stable. That said, a fluctuation of 10–15 lbs generally falls within the tolerance of our garments and can be addressed at the final fitting through complimentary alterations. If the change exceeds that range, certain structural elements that cannot be tailored may begin to be affected, and we cannot guarantee the same quality of fit. When in doubt, reach out and we'll advise you.

What fabric brands do you carry?+

We carry some of the finest cloth houses in the world, including Dormeuil, Scabal, Zegna, Loro Piana, Holland & Sherry, Drago, Piacenza, Ariston, and many more. Our selection spans a wide range of weights, textures, and price points — and is always growing.

What does "starting at" mean for pricing?+

The "starting at" price reflects the entry point for each garment category — the final cost is determined by your fabric selection. Suits start at $1,400 and can go as high as $12,000 depending on the cloth. In most fittings, we present a curated range from $1,400 up to around $8,000, giving you a clear view of your options at every level. You'll see and compare fabrics from all our cloth houses in person. The choice is always yours.

What does the average client spend?+

Every client comes to us with different needs — from a groom preparing for his wedding to a busy executive rebuilding his wardrobe. We offer a range of packages to address the most common scenarios. That said, most clients spend around $5,000 per order.

Can I browse your fabric selection online?+

We don't maintain an online fabric catalog — our selection is constantly evolving. The best way to experience our fabrics is in person at your private fitting, where you can see, touch, and compare options side by side. If you have questions before booking, we're happy to discuss by phone or email.

What types of garments do you make?+

We make custom garments for formal, professional, and casual settings, including suits, tuxedos, dress shirts, sport coats, trousers, chinos, polos, and casual wear. You can view the full garment list on the What We Make page.

Weddings

Wedding Questions

Can I schedule a browsing appointment for my wedding?+

As an appointment-only business, we don't schedule fittings for browsing. When you book your private fitting, you're committing to our process — and we're committing to delivering the best result possible. We're always happy to answer questions by phone or email before you book.

How far in advance should I book for my wedding?+

We strongly recommend booking at least 6 months before your wedding date. Booking early means your suit will be finished months before the day, giving you one less thing to think about as your wedding approaches. Rush options are available for tighter timelines.

Do you have wedding packages?+

Yes — we offer The I Do Collection, designed specifically for grooms. It includes two custom suits and three custom dress shirts: a rehearsal dinner suit and shirt, a wedding day suit and shirt, and a backup shirt. All garments include complimentary alterations. Starting at $2,800.

Can you match my wedding colors?+

Absolutely. We source from world-renowned mills and cloth houses globally and carry an extensive range of colors, patterns, and textures. Whatever your wedding calls for, we're confident we'll have something that works.

Do you make suits for groomsmen?+

Yes — we've outfitted full groomsmen parties and are experienced coordinating multiple fittings around a wedding timeline. Reach out to discuss your group size and date.

What if I need a rush order for my wedding?+

Rush orders are available. All rush orders are subject to an order minimum to ensure priority in our queue. Reach out as early as possible with your wedding date and we'll advise on what's achievable.

Can I see fabric samples before committing to a fitting?+

We don't maintain an online catalog — our selection is always evolving. We're happy to talk through options by phone or email before you commit. You'll see and feel everything in person at your private fitting.

Garment Care

Taking Care of Your Investment

How should I wash my clothing?+

All Tailored Threads garments should be cleaned and pressed exclusively by a professional dry cleaner. The quality of construction and fabrics we use require professional care to maintain their look, feel, and longevity over time.

How often should I dry clean my garments?+

Dry clean immediately when a garment is stained, or when it begins to hold odor. While dry cleaning is the safest option, it is still hard on materials over time — so less is more. Most suits are dry cleaned 3–5 times a year; shirts tend to need it more, around 5–10 times annually. If your garment is simply wrinkled, have your dry cleaner press it rather than running a full clean. Pressing is gentler and will restore the appearance without the additional wear of a full cleaning cycle.

Still have questions? Reach out directly — we're happy to talk before you book.
